Just bought a Sata 5500 1.3 I, learned on Sata a long time ago but have been spraying with supernovas for the past 4 years. I thought I had something with the supernova this Sata lays down really nice thin even coats hardly no peel and sprays faster seems good on material too so far. and is more forgiving then the iwata. This is single stage u tech in the picture and some sikkens clear “that’s what we spray at work”

I demoed the 5500 rp 1.3I. Was good for waterborne base coat. Slower than my ws400 1.4 for clear. I would need to try a 1.4 and the O pattern. It sprayed good.
This ones an rp. I tried a 1.2 o wasn’t for me so went with the I my ws is a 1.3 hd

Not sure how you have the ws400 setup. I have the fan in 2 turns and use 26-30 psi. I can spray really close and fast. It's faster than my 5000 rp 1.3. I can restrict fluid and it's still fast.

Faster than a 5000 RP 1.3? Jeez that’s impressive the 5000 rp’s were hoses.

I like guns that can wet the panel in a hurry. Since I like to spray in the 3-4 inch range the gun has to also atomize well there.

The 5000 rp only has the O pattern. I used it for a few years and moved to the ws400. The ws400 is more controllable at close distance.

Yes I was thinking the same thing…all 5000’s are “o” pattern. They started the l pattern with 5500’s. Def fast guns. But I agree iwatas like to spray close. I prefer the iwata style myself but everyone is different.

This is interesting. I don't use SATA but explains the differences.
For what it's worth, I've completely changed my spraying set up and have seen a dramatic change. I've gone to everything open and dropped a needle size. Never had better finishes. I wonder how the 5500 would do with a 1.2.
