My 69 z/28 that I restored and refinished using spi epoxy, and universal clear will be crossing the auction block Friday eve @ Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale. I sold the car in the fall and now the new owners have it at Barrett Jackson for sale.
Just thought I would post up some pics if anyone on these forums watches the auction Friday and sees the car go across the block.

Sweet, hope you have a reserve on a nice car like that, been watching Mecum in Florida and not real impressed with the bids other than the very special cars,.

No reserve on car but it should do pretty good out there. They have been heavily promoting out there and owners have ties with the rite people also.
Not sure if I could've sold it at no reserve but the new owner seems pretty confident?
We will see tonite I guess

Having been to Barrett Jackson once I can say it struck me as a lot of hype for the very wealthy car collectors. They had tents full of cars outside that you could look at and then the high dollar spots inside, under special lighting. These are roped off so you have to look from 10' or more away.
The bidding was another area where I was very suspect of employees planted in the crowd to run up stalled bids. Guys on the phone ready to bid for clients and the auction mentality kicks in where someone will outbid somebody else as a "I got more money that you do" type competition.
There were very high quality restorations going for fair to midland prices but then certain cars would go for 3 to 4 times that amount seemingly on a whim. The buyer and seller fees are astronomical and in addition to the selling price.

Yea I have never been there but always thought the same things you posted.. A lot of hype and people overpaying for cars just because it's Barrett jackson and televised.

sold for $93.5 after buyers fees, so the seller is getting a check for $78.2k, less consignment fee of $700 or so, less getting it there and travel fees, so they end up with the low $70k, plus the experience...

Understand some people buy there own cars back......

Yea they were hoping it would hammer closer to 100-120k . They probably broke even with what they bought it from me for and then all the other cost like shipping /commissions /consignment fees/ travel etc.
I thought the 85k it sold for was inline with currant value without the barrett Jackson premium being attached to it.
