Classic Car Collision Repair in Central California

I have a friend with a 1964 Buick which was in an accident recently. She is looking for a recommendation for a body shop that is good at collision repair on classic cars. We are looking for a company in Central California in the area of Fresno or Visalia. She would also take the car to someone on the Central Coast in the Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo area. Does anyone have an recommendations?

I have not seen the car so I cannot assess the damage. Clearly the left front fender and the bumper is damaged. I work on my own 1967 Mustangs and know that sheetmetal and other parts are readily available. I do not know anything about 1964 Buicks. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I can't help with a shop in the area but that one might be hard to find parts for. Bumperboyz might have a bumper for it. The fender could be hard to find and might have to be saved. I service a couple 60' electra's and the wheel arch mouldings were impossible to find when the owner damaged one. Had to save a flattened one because I looked for over a year. Pick up a Hemmings and start calling the Buick guys is all one can do.

She needs to find a shop that is capable of repairing stuff instead of swapping it out for a new one.

Thank you for responding to my post. You thoughts on repairing versus replacing are consistent with what I told her. Hopefully others will chime in.

Not sure who you are insured with but if you are just with a normal company or self insuring, call Haggerty up in Michigan they have shops through out the country rated as primary of secondary shops and you may not be a customer but they are good people and will give you a couple close buy.
Most important, the shop will be qualified to repair the older car and know where to get parts.

x2 on what Barry said. I work on classic car claims all the time. A dedicated classic car repair shop will be so much better than a production body shop on this kind of claim. ~BOB

Thank you for the replies. Yes, she has Hagerty insurance. She found a shop in Visalia that specializes in restorations and they are on Hagerty's list of shops.

Here is the great part about Hagerty, they have one person and all he does is find parts for the collision shops that work on their cars. They will find them for sure.
