Clean areas after dustless blasting

The sand is everywhere. No matter how much I clean it with compressed air, electric leaf blower or W&G remover I cannot prevent dust from being in the paint. Can I spray the area with water then W&G and epoxy an hr later?

They used crushed glass. Don’t I have to worry about flash rust when cleaning with water?

Do I need to rinse with water after I assume to get rid of the soap suds. I assume dry it as soon as possible then apply waterborne W&G?

There is a lot of information on this topic. Go to top of page, find search forums, and type in flash rust.

never get the sludge out. stop worrying about flash rust . flash rust just shows the metal is clean . mostly iron deposits from your water .

I think if you havent gotten epoxy on this a week after you started cleaning it, you are opening yourself up to a world of problems down the line.

I’m ok applying epoxy over this? Doesn’t seem right

Wipe an area with 700-1 and spray a small spot of epoxy over the worst part. Wait 2-3 days, then da that spot back to metal. Report back with your findings.

I sanded it down the best that I could. Never using ospho again since you have to neutralize with water.

dont blame it on ospho . your refusal to take advice is causing all the problems . your first mistake was dustless blasting .

I followed your recommendation of cleaning blasted parts with dawn dish soap and water and blowing it dry right away then spraying epoxy. Now you are saying I did it wrong?

no . i'm saying your worrying about rinsing with water too much . if you chem strip you have to wash it, if you use acid you have to wash it , if you blast you have to wash it . flash rust is a sign the metal is clean . the more iron in your water the more flash will show . it is not the end of the world . if it is really bad you can scuff with red scotchbrite then epoxy.

Thanks for the explanation! I will scotchbrite as much as I can.
