Possible to repair?

Is there a quality way to refinish these brushed chrome wheels? A mobile wheel repairer did them and I think he just used rattle can paint.
Thanks,
Kent

well once they are stripped of rattle can, all cleaned up and ready to go then you spray them with alsa clear4chrome. you can do all the coats with it or do the first coat then the final coats with spi clear over it. its the only thing that really locks on to polished metals. you can also use catalyzed spi adpro then clear and it bonds decent but not like clear4chrome

@Jim C Good to know. Do you have much experience with any of Alsa's other products? They have some interesting looking stuff on their site. Curious about the quality.

chris, i have used their stuff over the years. not alot but some of it. they do make quality products BUT many of their unique items or items that look really cool tend to be a little hyped up i guess you would say. its not really quite what its cracked up to be. stuff like the crystal effects, mirrachrome or the colored chrome spray cans jut to name a few. not that these are bad, the marketing is just a little misleading. the chrome for instance. they make you think you just spray it on out of a can and bam, you have a chrome finish then you just clear it. when in fact you need to have a flawless sanded and buffed black ss finish that has sat for a week or two to cure first then you apply chrome and really what you end up with is a hazy polished aluminum look in the end that doesnt look anywhere close to what you see in the pics on their site. anyway you get the idea. the normal paint products are of good quality though. i have always said "you cant just spray on cool". if it looks questionable or gimmicky then it prob is and there is a little more to the application that what it appears.

once they are stripped you need to work the metal and polish it. just like with clear you need different grits of paper then you move to your metal buffing wheels with different grades of metal buffing compounds. once the metal is all polished out then you clear

No wonder he painted them.

I have used Cerakote 160 on some polished bronze, polished and brushed aluminum with decent results. I think they have a clear specifically for aluminum now. The metal has to be solvent cleaned with T-Butyl-Acetate. The product sets up too fast, so you have to move fast. It also doesn't store well due to the very volatile solvents in it so best to get fresh material for best results.
The polishing is where the work is.
