Checkerboard

Yeah-i upgraded to 1/2 inch Flexilla even though i have almost 40 cfm of air and man does the 5000 respond to it. I spray Debeer 8-104 at 24 psi where 30 was required before and my Sagola 4600 even less. The 3/8 x 50 ft is not big enough even with milton v fittings.

Funny You should mention the Iwatas-I have a WS400 evo hd 1.3 coming next week-first Iwata ever-PSYCHED to say the least. I have every Satajet ever made from N92-to present and i love em all.

Funny you mention the 1/2" hose and all. There's this used car dealership that also has a spray booth, crappiest booth ever but they have this massive air compressor and all their lines and fittings are 1/2". Every time they ask me to paint something the spraying is fast and effortless with whichever gun I decide to use. It does make a difference.

I have the WS400 but in 1.4, I think you'll like it.

I agonized about the choice 1.3 vs 1.4-wondering why you chose 1.4?

...I got mixed reviews about the speed of the ws400 hd guns-most choose 1.4 but then again most choose 1.3 in the Satas and i have learned that speed sometimes comes at the cost of accuracy and id rather be accurate on my overlaps and keep my millage consistent( The only Satajet rp that was a true 1.3 was the original and its my favorite actually) I really hate the look of thick clear. Rather block and flowcoat to get depth.

Looks good-but try a 1.2 and that little bit of peel just goes by by ( i realize you may do shop work so the small peel is necessary) I restore so slick is the word for my stuff-i dont even run the 1.2 at full material with a 60 percent solids clear-2 turns out and it leaves the clear so flat, but no sausages around the doors- to each his own but with the vendor on Ebay out of Italy selling the nozzle sets for 160 dollars why not?

Yes, you are correct. Nearly all of my work is collision repair, so the majority of the time I am trying to match factory peel. But just like the viper hood above, I occasionally get something that needs to be super slick. I might use your advise and get a 1.2 and try it out. Thanks.

I was wondering what you would recommend as a starting setup for a 1.3HD-got mine today. i assume full fluid but what about fan? i was told by a friend to narrow the fan to 9-10 inches for speed.

For the 1.3...... I'd start with 2 1/4 to 2.5 turns out from closed on the fan.

3.5 to 4 turns out from closed for the fluid, keep it around 28-30 with trigger pulled.

My supernova I spray closer to the panel than the 5000 RP, with tighter overlap and faster passes seems to get me the best finish. Curious to see how you like it and give us a comparison with your Sagola 4600, that one I've never used yet.

Thanks for the reply-The Sagola is a great gun-im told it is the only clear gun that can compete with the supernova-it definitely out atomizes the 5000rp. I cant wait to see for myself what everyone is so mad about. My paint jobber raves about the supernovas-he doesnt sell any Satajets anymore. I worried from what others have said that i made a mistake in not getting the 1.4HD so last night i bought the fluid set for 1.4HD and now ill have both. I think the Debeer clear and Metalux clear i use will probably like the 1.4HD. Can never have to many sprayguns and for what i paid for the gun I still came out way ahead buying the extra fluid set. I will post for sure my opinion, once i give this gun a good workout.

Hi Jorge
used the ws400 today-in 1.4HD-definitely a fine spray gun but to much in 1.4 for me-will try it in 1.3 tomorrow and see if i can do a lil better than today-very cold shop and new gun =learning curve-your settings were a great starting point for me though I can tell you know this gun. I will probably love the 1.4 in July on a complete but for me in January the 1.3 will stay in the gun i think. I did get a flat finish but had a lil to thick edges for my liking- i think the 1.3 will be perfect. Thanks
