speed clear and polar is it needed?

well my first experience with speed clear started out bad...i was worried about heat..when i should have been worried about the idiot holding the gun LOL..bumper temp was 74 degrees...the first coat i put on like i did universal real wet and flat looked great then right back with the second coat the same way...thats when things went south it started to sag and run in about 5 spots..i guess my mistake was i sprayed like i was gonna let it flash and just went too heavy and then i relized to late i had the gun set at 30 psi...in which i remembered my devilbiss plus likes 40 psi to spray hs clear.well that was friday...after i wet sanded out the flow indicators.repainted the spots where i broke thru . today i got the shop nice and toasty mixed up 10oz with a half part of medium reducer just because i thought i had the shop too hot for the fast activator....anyway i set the gun to 40 psi and i moved a little faster than normal..it turned out awesome this go around with one slight flow indicator and a litttle trash from 3 wasp making out in the ceiling...easy fix... and i loved i was able pick it up and move it within 20 minutes after spraying....now on to the hood...need to get a can of wasp killer first:)....ready for more suggestions from you guys where i may have gone wrong ..... thanks for all your help so far!!!

If you're using a Pro-lite, 40 Psi is way too high. I'd suggest starting over with the gun set up by following Barry's protocol that's in the manual.

hello thanks AAE i have a devilbiss plus gf670 spraying with a 1.4 tip and at first with 3 1/2 turns out..and then a half turn in the second time..so do you think the 40 psi was compensating for too much fluid?? and yes i will adjust according to Barrys procedure and see how how it goes...thanks again.

I don't know that gun. But, yes you may be compensating. Most new guns don't need over 30.

oh im sorry i left out a letter its a devilbiss GFG 670..i will try do get it better dialed in when i paint the hood...never too old to learn thanks to all!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

ok i sprayed the hood today with much better results...after following Barrys adjustment procedure...clear appeared to go on thinner as before it looked too heavy...but i didnt mix enough this time and way too much when i did bumper...anyway the hood flashed about 3 minutes before the second coat...and i noticed after it set up about an hour that where i started the first coat looked like it died back some..but the wettest part of first coat looked nice and clear.....maybe that 3 minute flash on first coat did that ??? idk.. the DBC base flashed about a hour and a half before clear.but i am highly satisfied how it layed down..other than a lil trash i will take care of that tommorow hopefully.thank you all again for the great advice....

Maybe the starting point wasn't applied as wet as the second part of the first coat. Then the second coat didn't correct it.

the first coat looked pretty even...thats when i looked in the cup and realized i was gonna be short...the hood has same texture all over...just one side of hood had maybe 30 to 45 second more cure time than the other plus the 3 minutes of flash (thats not recommended) to mix more clear...lol just got to get the dummy holding the gun better organized
