    Solid Head Rivet Installation

My window channel seals came with small rivets similar to these: I am want to install them without having to spend a bunch of money on a tool I'll probably only use one time. Will an air chisel with a blunt end work to install these? My thinking its to place to the bottom of the channel on a...

    Paint Strainers

Did a search on this and only found one post by Barry. What Micron size should I be using for metallic paint? Do you use the same strainer for all products. Is there a limit as to how fine a filter you can use for today's metallics? I am using 190 Micron right now.

Would like some suggestions on how to patch the left fender on this truck. I have done some minor patchwork on fiberglass but this fender has a pretty big crack from running into a deer. There are also spots of damage where a steel cable was run into:

    Softening Vinyl on Dash Pads

The pad on my sliding ashtray is in good shape overall but very hard. Looking for suggestions on getting the vinyl softened up a bit and more flexible. Most of the online searches lead to Vinyl Protection products and the only things I see for softening seem to be homemade stuff, using mineral...

    Watson Lake Car Show

Went to a car show at Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona today. Saw this guy there trying to sell a '69 Coronet 500: I think he needs money for a couple of A100s. ;)

    Motorcycle Ride

Rode to San Pedro California to meet some friends, then to Yosemite National Park last week. Once I was out of Southern California the ride was quite enjoyable and scenery spectacular. There was a long tunnel through a mountain that we rode through and when we came out the other side this was...

    Smoothing Fiberglass Flares

I have a friend whose son is restoring a 1972 Porsche 914. He added the flares but now wants to smooth them to the fender. His installation method was rivets  as can be seen in the picture below. Since the fenders are metal and the flares are fiberglass, what is the best method of...

Recoat time for Regular 2k Build Primer

Wanted to spray two coats today but ran out of primer. Have another gallon on the way and supposedly arriving today but not here yet and I won't have time to spray the second coat today. Tech manual states: "If sanded primer has set more than 24 hours you must scuff first with a gray scuff...

    Automotive Rotisserie Question

I have never used a rotisserie before and decided I needed one before my knees go out from kneeling on concrete. After assembly I attached it to the car and did the following. - Set the jacks to the same height. - Adjusted the mount height so the car is level front to back. The problem I am...

    Search Function Too Limited

When I try to do a specific search for something, the system deletes the key words. Often it states they are too commonly used, but in actuality they are descriptive words necessary to finding the subject matter I am searching for. Maybe visit some other sites and see how their search...

    Air Compressor Problems

The last couple of weeks my air compressor would periodically trip the circuit breaker. Well today it did it again only this time it wouldn't start back up. So I removed the drive belt and tried the motor. It seemed to spin freely and even for along time after I turned the power back off. Next...

    New Use for 710

Today I was having to clean front end parts for my 4x4 truck. Took one of the locking hubs apart and it was coated in gook. After trying some other cleaners I decided to give the 710 a try. I was amazed at how just squirting it on the components made the grease and grime just float away...

    Rubber Bedliner

The Dodge Dakota I am working on has a rubber like bed liner on it. This stuff is very thick in places and extremely difficult to remove. Does anyone have an idea of who makes this stuff? My thoughts were to get the flaking parts removed and then shoot some Upol Raptor over it. My concern is...

What Do You Use to hold up window seals?

I bought a box of 3M 06349 and it worked okay on really soft seals but this 2000 Dodge Dakota has some very narrow and stiff seals. The tape doesn't have the strength to hold them up. Thinking I might try wedging some wire under the edge but don't want to risk scratching the paint when removing.

    Clear coat peeling

I am working on a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad cab. The paint on all the horizontal areas needs to be stripped due to clear coat failure but the sides still seem to be in pretty good shape. The plan is to repaint the exterior of the truck. Should I risk leaving the sides alone, removing the...

    2000 Dodge Dakota Sport

Okay, this is the current project. It came with the engine block in the bed, rebuilt heads on the rear seat and miscellaneous parts in a plastic tub with a lid on it. Not sure how long it was sitting before it got here but I started working on it in 2019 before the owner wanted me to paint...
