    Something you may enjoy

That guy passed me on the way home from picking up Chinese dinner yesterday. He stopped for the red light in a right hand turn lane so he could jump the other lanes when it turned green. Had I been next to him it would have been a fun drag race.

    Recommend a decent detail gun

@Lizer, I also started with a Finishline full size and detail size set. They do spray paint but nothing special. I bought Iwata LPH400 full size and LPH80 detail guns and I found they were way better. I have a Sata jet 2000 Digital gun I bought used from someone who didn't believe in cleaning...

CPVC piping for my home setup?

If you are soldering potable water lines you can't use solder with lead in it. For air lines there's no such restriction. The usual solder for potable water is 95/5 Tin Antimony but for your air lines you can use 50/50 Tin Lead. A one pound spool of 50/50 is about $25 while the 95/5 is about...

If clear and/or activator went bad, what happens when sprayed?

I inadvertently did a test on the longevity of Universal Clear and activators. Instead of polishing or clear coating the original headlights on my '04 PT Cruiser I bought a pair of Rock Auto specials in 2017. Six years later they have developed cracks deep in the plastic. I had a premonition...

    AIR HOSE RECOMMENDATIONS

@MikeK, I use whips on all my air tools to cut down on weight and especially to keep the hose reel donut away from my wrist. I have a Flexzilla whip with a diaphragm regulator at one end that clips onto my belt. Keeps the regulator handy but not adding weight to the gun. Having the hose...

    All Corvettes are red . . .

The '73 was the last and first. Last year for chrome bumpers on the rear and first year for the urethane bumper on the front. The '72 was the last year with chrome at both ends.

    Miniature belt sander

Evil_Fiz, if you want to try a couple of cheap mini belt sanders, Amazon has a Wen electric 1/2" x 18" model for $41.13 (https://www.amazon.com/WEN-6307-Variable-Detailing-Sander/dp/B072Q2FTLY?th=1). I have used one to polish aluminum parts using surface conditioning belts...

    dynabrade buffer 49440

Jim, Dynabrade has another 3" buffer that is only 1.9" tall. Also quite a bit cheaper but still not cheap...

    dynabrade buffer 49440

Jim, Dynabrade site shows the head of that 49440 buffer to be 2.6 inches high so probably taller when you add the pad.

    3M Particulate filters for respirator

I used a clear 1-inch vinyl hose from the fitting outside the garage to the filter/blower.

    3M Particulate filters for respirator

I use the organic vapor cartridges when I'm spraying outdoors or using aerosol paint in an enclosed space. I was willing to pay $500 for a compressor, $500 for an Iwata gun, $500 for paint and $500 for sandpaper so spending $500 for a Breathecool II supplied air system with a full face mask...

1963 Dodge Dart for the Wife....

Jim, back in 2012 at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach, this one sold for $9,350. It had a nice little Slant 6.

    Paint shakers

I have the HF shaker mounted to a 2" hitch vise mount. Put a receiver on a 2x12 shelf on the outside of the garage. Works great because the shelf only holds up hurricane shutters that are bolted to the wall. Whatever you mount it to better have ererything bolted down.

    Epoxy Primer Trial Failure

I think the title of the thread should be changed to: "I Figured Out How to Make SPI Epoxy Fail".

Let's see everyone's junk collector .....AKA your work bench!!

You're a lot further along than me. I'm heading into 42nd year owning and 37th prepping for paint on my '72 Vette. At least I didn't buy it new.

    I'm just gutted :(

Chris, our rescue pug Ellie (Eleanor Roosevelt Heine) died last year in the early hours of the day after Christmas. Grief makes for strange decisions so we adopted a rescue from Puerto Rico. Apparently the dog flew first class based on the donation but she loves my wife to death. Me not so...

Chris, I'm 76 so life in prison isn't that much of a deterrent.

1963 Dodge Dart for the Wife....

Jim, I'm a big fan of straight six power. My '56 Chevy left the family 55 years ago but the intake remained in my garage for 45 years. Cleaned it up for sale when I finally agreed a Stovebolt 6 was not coming back into my life. Bought the Edmunds Custom dual two-barrel (94s) for $35 and sold...

    I'm just gutted :(

Chris, they are with us for such a short time but show us what unconditional love is all about. So good to hear the a good news end of the story. Something rare in this year of sad news. Two of my grandchildren have tested positive for COVID-19 and are fathers of our three...
