Jim, Dynabrade has another 3" buffer that is only 1.9" tall. Also quite a bit cheaper but still not cheap...

Jim, Dynabrade site shows the head of that 49440 buffer to be 2.6 inches high so probably taller when you add the pad.

I have the HF shaker mounted to a 2" hitch vise mount. Put a receiver on a 2x12 shelf on the outside of the garage. Works great because the shelf only holds up hurricane shutters that are bolted to the wall. Whatever you mount it to better have ererything bolted down.
