1941 chrysler coupe build

Thanks. Getting done.......slowly, ha.....I have 3-4 hours already just welding and cleaning up the 1' section at the back.
I wonder how many hours 4' across the bottom and 2' up the front will take? o_O

Not bad, 4 hours to weld and clean up. Ripply, but lows look to be no more than a 1/32".
That's what I'm shooting for, that, and no pop-a-matics.

How to get Chevy door locks onto the old door? Start with good ole Raisin Bran box of course. Cardboard door lock "cog".

My blueprint, ha........

With this mock up test below, it was confirmed it would work. I ordered two door lock cogs laser cut. Should see them in a week or so for final testing.

Ah yes, the "raisin bran box template." A well known hack And since you have to empty the box first, you're starting out well nourished and plenty of energy.
Nice work!

Hot rod mirrors, I couldn't find much selection. The darn things won't swivel enough unless checking guys standing at a bus stop is your thing. Or watching some old lady walking down the sidewalk perhaps. They need more angle aiming back, so front of mirror base needs to come away from the car.

Metal shaping.........nope.......PITA.....

Metal fabricating, more my speed since I do this for a living......

The piece above looks ridiculous so I tacked a base plate on to it, them schmoozed filler around it for a tapered look. The look was OK because it looked like it was going fast while parked in the garage. I could pull a better paper pattern from this buck.

So, round 3 started:

Cut out the inside of the plate. It did a good job holding the shape during welding.

Ready to weld in tomorrow.

Pugsy, you're not gonna blast the inside of that door skin? How to mitigate that rust after it's all together?
