1963 Dodge Dart for the Wife....

Not sure what I am looking at as far as the problem areas go.

It looks good and straight. Love the color.

look the the right of the camera lens cover. There is a low spot. In the other photo there are a few scratches in the middle of the photo that are lower than the surface

So I sucked it up and fixed the 2 spots that I forgot to fix.... Kaelyn took me to town in the Duster, that I extracted from the garage and washed this morning, to get supplies.

Wet sand with 500 grit and a block to see the low spot then put tape around it to keep the damage to a minimum... apply glaze then sand with 320 till almost there then remove the tape and sand with 500 on a block till perfect. I was about to mix up some reduced epoxy but noticed I still had a splash left over from Friday morning! Perfect. Rolled the tape over on itself so the edge would be soft when I sprayed and pushed it outside before the storm rolled in. Ended up wet sanding the whole car to get anything out and a perfect surface for tomorrows money coats. Wet sanded in the epoxy as well. I could not get a few coat of base on today, which I was hoping for, so the first hour tomorrow will be getting these areas to the same coverage as the rest of the car. Also bought some SEM undercoating for the trunk. This will be painted over eventually.

Lastly we spent 3 hours massaging the fit on the door and fender here... that fender is tweaked but I now know what I can do under the car to get it better if I have to (extra mounting screw to pull the back inward). It is 100% better though, it just sits at almost a perfect gap and I don't need my wire pulling in on the mounting tab anymore.

That is going to be awesome with some clear on it, Im looking forward to seeing it.

Hoping you have good weather tomorrow. 5-8 inches of snow forecast for me.

What a morning... Saying "I have to wait for the fog to lift" is something I am not use to but oh what a morning... the light rain yesterday settled the dust and the fog kept the heat down early and it was dead quiet this morning.... Put the old girl outside.... then pushed the car out
:)
... Lots of cleaning and wiping again... Hit the places where I patched yesterday and after 3 coat where invisible. Having the owner help keep the car tacked off allowed us to put down the base FLAWLESS not one bug or dirt speck. I am struggling why I can't paint the trunk without tiger striping. I think I will spray another coat of base on it to try to get it better. The hood looks great so i don't get the difference...

We put on one coat of Universal clear and we got a big cloth fuzzy on the drivers door. Plus I was struggling getting the gun set to not orange peel... We decided to call it a day with one coat and that was the right answer. The winds kick up around 11 and they did...

Will wet sand the orange peel and couple of problems in the clear in the morning then mist on a fresh base to try to make the trunk not tiger striped and mask off and shoot the teal base on the inside of the doors and rear quarters and try to get 3 clears down before the wind starts.

First off, your car looks outstanding. All that blocking really shows. Your striping problem probably stems from having to reach so far on the deck lid and not being able to keep the gun's pattern perpendicular to the panel, which is critical with a metallic. Try standing on a step to get you up high enough to reach the center without having to "tip" the gun. You can also try spraying the trunk standing at the rear to criss cross your pattern. Sometimes that helps.

Arizonaized. Long sleeved sweatshirts and heavy coats when it gets down to 60 degrees. LOL

Weather here has been crazy this year. Hoping it gets settled whether spring is here or if we are just going to jump into summer.

Well she is wet sanded down the trunk is not done... spraying epoxy on it in the morning and getting some polyester spray on in a 2 days (48 hour wait after the epoxy per Barry).. The problems I had with the clear orange peel and striping where for a reason, if it all went down nice I would not want to redo the trunk.... I will get there eventually... Live and learn.
