1963 Dodge Dart for the Wife....

After blasting there was a little swiss cheese on the trunk... need to roll this bead and blast is better to stop the rust... another nasty tight space for mud to collect between inner and outer panels and stay wet forever....

One gallon of grey epoxy through the gun to date! Patch panels and body epoxied where the sun don't shine so we can start welding the quarters back up.

How you gonna sand all that gray epoxy now, in prep for color? My knuckles and finger bones hurt already. Maybe red scotchbrite and call in all the cousins and neighborhood kids? :) I'm amazed every time you post pics...

There is LOTs more blocking and building to do. I enjoy the next steps. Also I don’t paint color on the backs of panels or the under body. I just leave it epoxy

Getting really tired if blasting but I think we are about done. The cancer is eradicated from the trunk seam and lip and the door are done.... Brushed on epoxy with a brush in the trunk to make sure I got it all with it split.... Only thing left is to sand the exterior paint off the trunk lid and we can start going back in the positive direction. The door had some issues after the wife got the paint off the surface.... another patch after a bit of blasting...

No doubt media blasting is nasty work but once it's done you have nice clean metal and a very clear view of the necessary repairs ahead.
Gonna be a real nice ride when finished.

There is no doubt this is the absolute right way to do this... I should have done a bit more on the Coronet but that was before I had accumulated all the tools to make it almost bearable..... The Coronet never sees rain on purpose so I am not to worried but it is nice knowing you tracked down all the rust and got rid of if after spending this much time and money on a restoration.
 
I can't believe it is over and I am getting MUCH better at welding and MUCH faster the process. I have not spot welded the lips and lower quarter edges yet because I wanted to blast the inside the trunk welds and wanted the media to fall out the bottom between the lower quarter and trunk extension. Next weekend hit the spot welds and all the metal patches should be FINISHED!

This side came out BEAUTIFUL because I thought of something on the, of course, last panel...

Aligned the panels with the trusty Model Railroad steel ruler then tacked it right behind and walked down the panel.... It came out almost perfectly aligned.
