1963 Dodge Dart for the Wife....

That blue.. it's this, maybe was that, it's so unique. I like it. Possibly remember it.
Car will be sight for sore eyes when done. Great job.

It's actually Mopar LL1 Dark Turquoise. Another color (like Barry's Orange) that does not photograph well. Sort of like the General Lee being painted Corvette Red so it looks more orange on camera.....

First day I was able to work from home since this all started! That gave me 2.5 hours of extra time today so I put it to good use. The trunk is now oil caning free and quite straight. Epoxied it and will hit it with high build and start working it flat Friday. Also started the 320 wet sand for the final finish for the base. You can see why I like the sheen of the SPI epoxy for blocking. Also notice the nice cross hatch to make it nice and flat.

I'm glad to make it back to this build/thread. I've been busy the last two week cutting trees down to make my own toilet paper, just joking.

Great progress as usually. I'm actually a little jealous how you figured out how to use that spoon and where to use it to stop the oil caning. Valuable information there. Your thread has been a tremendous help to me, thank you.

Looking to start my own paint build thread here shortly. Just waiting on my new paint gun to arrive. I've already pulled dents out, and the weather temps are starting to hold consistently in the upper 60's.

It a mixture of the slapper and heat. The hood had a crown so you could work a bit more of a crown into it to stretch it out and stop the oil canning. The trunk was a different matter. It is very flat so I did have to use more heat than I did on the hood. I think to really make it easy you need the acetylene torch. The stud welder just does not quite get it hot enough and since you are pushing on it makes marks (volcanoes) in the panel.

Ok I am totally done with body work on the old girl... and I don't mean finished..... She is the same age as me and probably my body is in as bad of shape. Spent the day working working on the hood, trunk and RH side.... The side is flat other than the couple of places I hit it with high build where a few low spots were... The trunk is so close.... I should have the hood and the trunk done tomorrow..... Knock on wood.... This thing is kicking my butt.....

So I quit on the hood and trunk for now. I just got in the mood I am just going to sand till I don't want to any more. Got a lot done.... The body is straight! She is blocked out with 220 and I washed it with Dawn and water to get the residue off. You can see how straight she is.... I shot it with a highly reduced epoxy coat to fill in the scratches and cover the bare spots. Tomorrow 320 and 500 and it is ready to paint.... Oh after I get the hood and trunk like this....

A days worth of sand paper. If you don't feel like your wasting it your not changing it enough....

The poor movie star is neglected under dust and dirt......

Another long, long day of sanding and primer..... The trunk was still really bad and the hood had a few low spots.... So I just went crazy on it.... While filler was setting or high build drying I started to 320 wet sand the body. Got most of one side done. Also finished up the area where the alternator sets. It was beat to crap in there but a lot of slapper work and a little filler she looks 100% better.... I had a dream of shooting color tomorrow.... I am not there after wrestling with that trunk....

If I ever see any one sitting on a hood or trunk I am going to punch them in that face... :)

You're gonna enjoy buffing this car & yes if u ever carch someone resting their bottom on hood/trunk lol.
i had friends one night enjoying sliding down fenders of waxed 70's stingray.

Sigh, when Kaelyn was helping me carry in the hood this evening I saw a dent in it that I never noticed before.... I am several work days way from being ready to shoot color at a minimum :(. This one is testing my patience but I will win.....

Amazes me how he (crashtech) sees those things in a picture when those on site don't.....lol! I'm enjoying the build, Jim. Thanks for posting.

Ok the struggle is real.... balancing work at home against the call of the garage........ Took my breaks to do some quick 10 minute jobs in the garage and ended up making a huge difference in being "done"....

The damn dent..... Break one: mix some filler and spread it. Lunch: 80 grit shape it and mix epoxy for induction. Break 2 spray epoxy so it can sit 4 hours in the sun. After work shot 2 coats of high build ready to block and we will see if we are done!
