1966 Valiant for the Other Daughter....

Pinch me I am 3 small dents in the roof away from being done with the body! Just a bunch of little stuff today... I think I am done with the welder, finally.... Doors, hood, trunk all installed and adjusted and work flawlessly. The hood latches cleanly (something it has not done for a long time I am told). The hawk (@MP&C) made me run all over this car with a long and short straight edge, hammers and dollies fixing every dent or low spot I could find, it is perfect? No but it is the most time I have spent on the little things on any of the cars... I hope it pays off when the blocking starts!

Fun fact tip. I had to weld up the holes in the hood for the '57 Chevy emblem and the hood pins. Of course that shrunk the metal. All of these were under the webbing for the hood so I could not planish them. So what I did was I ground them down and of course they were low. I fired up the media blaster and hammered on the weld area with the blaster and guess what... it stretched welds enough that don't think I will need filler over these welds now. Keep your straight edge handy and keep checking till things are flat.

A little SPI Epoxy shows me my metal work is not as good as I thought it was! Oh well I guess I’ll buy another can of filler! Over the break I’ll pull this back apart and shoot the backside of the panels and the body. Then comes the magic of making it straight as an arrow. I wish I could have a Redo on the RH side.... I should not have patched those 2 parts of the quarter off the car

Tried some 3M Platinum Plus today (thought that was what I was using but turns out it was just plain 3M Platinum). I think the plain Platinum sands easier but the Plus is easier to see against the white primer. A few more hours of roughing it in left for tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be warm so I will be shooting a lot of epoxy to get this thing sealed up top, bottom, inside and out.
