1967 Fairlane

Man I just love the way epoxy looks when its sprayed wet like that. Epoxy is my favorite lol

A few days ago I sprayed 3 coats of SPI red than the next day 3 coats of universal clear. The following day blocked it with 400 wet than today sprayed 3 more coats of clear on the hood and deck lid.

Nice,
Are you going to put base over the bedliner or leave it that way?

We are going to leave it like that. I think it will look good with that bright SPI red. Tomorrow we have to tape off the bottom sand the body and epoxy prime it black. In our spare time we have to move the spring perches on the rear housing, install the front and rear suspension, steering, buff the deck lid and install all by Saturday. It will be at a car show in Tampa early Saturday morning.

Opentracker upper and lower control arms and double roller spring perches.

The Fairlane did not make it to the car show we ran out of time trying to get the rear housing finished. We have been working on this at the house so I decided to move it to the shop.

Finished epoxy priming the body and this was the first time that I got to see how the tires fit.

Looking good! I have really enjoyed watching the progress of this one.
Are those shackles gonna be strong enough for a drag car?

They look strong to me and Crites has been selling this kit for years.

Rusty I looked at the Crites page and you are right they do look like stout peices. I didn't catch the gusset in your picture it kind of blended in with the frame rail.
I am moving the springs inboard and using the Caltrac suspension so I have been watching, trying to learn from the master, how you set this up.
Would there be any benefit to using sliders?
How are you positioning the shocks?
Thanks
Bill

We will have to remove the rear suspension to correct a clearance problem. The frame rail on a Fairlane or Mustang is notched for spring clearance. The Crites front spring saddle does not have enough clearance for the pin that holds the front traction bar brackets. We trimmed one side but the pin is wedged against the inner frame rail.

Very nice job you are doing right here. I have a question, so in total you gave 6 coats of clear to the hood and the others parts??
