How did you fix the bleeds in the white? I assume you mean tape bleeds?
BTW... Thanks for the pics, they just lit a fire under me to get my corvette done (7 year project). I needed some inspiration.

So you shouldn't stripe right on base? Would that risk pulling off base when un-taping? Or leaving tape tracks?

The first time I did the car and a few other cars I have done in the past, I taped right over the base. If you give the base some time to dry it's usually ok but the ones I did were solid colors. I did not want to risk messing up the metallic.

The consensus on here, because I layed down white with a pearl intercoat, was to paint and clear the car, then lay out the stripes. It worked great and a nice feature to doing it that way is if you have bleeds or overspray, you can wipe it off the primary color without hurting it. I used SPI reducer on the corner of a paper towel and carefully cleaned up the edges of the white with my thumbnail. There were just a few small spots but it worked great.

I will add another benefit to base/clearing car prior to stripes is the time frame. If you are using a base that requires you to clear in a certain timeline you are covered. It took me and my wife about 7 hours to tape and mask for these stripes. Alot of that is due to the fact that they are different dimensions everywhere on the car.

I got around to blocking the second round of clear out. Started with 600 and went up to 3000.

Buffed out some of the car. I bolt on the fenders with a gap at the cowl to make it easier to sand and buff. Then I will take them off and clean them and the inner fender area, then reinstall.

Great looking project! I couldn't help but notice your heating system. How do you like it? And your paint booth looks great too. Did you build it also?
