replace and repaint fender. lots of things wrong with this car...it was delivered to the customer with all these problems by another shop. the fender happened as the customer was driving the car, says the spindle come loose from the control arm...i havent really inspected the suspension yet but will do when the fender comes off.

on top of that, as you can see from the pics, the paint comes right off the primer...bubbles on the roof. and from what i can tell, according to the bubbles (could possibly be rust) and the way the bondo has popped right off the fender, is that it was sodablasted and obviously not prepped and cleaned properly. dont really know who actually painted it, and prob wont know and wont know what the process was. but all i can see is bondo on top of metal, a few coats of primer, and paint. bc/cc. there is a matrix box in the trunk with parts in it...so i'm going to assume matrix was used..but cant be sure. this exact thing happened to me the few times i've used matrix (peeling paint)

just amazing at some of the things i see other shops get away with, knowing it would RUIN me if anything like this happened...makes you sctratch your head.

Looks like Clausen Z-chrome polyester primer over soda blasted bare metal-or maybe it was metal conditioned with acid improperly. Whatever happened it's definately a mess!!

after further review, it has been sodablasted. i can see soda coming out from seams and such...typical for soda if you do jambs and whatnot and dont clean real good and and seamseal real good.

fender replaced and painted. i was told the color was bmw titanium silver..which it turned out it wasnt. its bmw silver gray...much darker than titanium silver. i chose to use the wandabase to see how it did with silvers and blends. i must say i am impressed with the wanda so far. spi universal overtop. i'll post more info in my other wanda post in the color section. after i removed a few "signatures" in the door, she'll be ready.

atleast the fender will last!!! lol!

i popped a piece of bondo off the bottom of the old fender where a patch was welded...wasn't hard at all...over 1/4 of an inch of bondo over un-neutralized soda. they did sand the hell out of it though! prolly used laquer thinner to clean it to boot!

Going to look great !
I stopped at I-90 blasting yesterday, wanted to talk to them about blasting my mustang. First words out of the guys mouth were soda blasting. I told him not on my car. He says what do you want used on your car, I say olivine, he says ok.
Then starts to tell me about how big off a blaster he has , shoots a pattern a foot wide and takes scale right off structural steel.

I thanked him for his time and hot footed it right out the door.

what is the customer going to do with all the roof bubbles? he better peddle it soon...

planning on selling it.......BUT its a hard sell with those bubbles as i've told him. already had a few come by and check it out and first thing they see is the bubbles. theres a whole lot more wrong with this car than bubbles...i could write a 2 page essay on the problems. kinda sad cause i know what he paid for the paint job......and dont EVEN want to know what he paid for the whole job.
