1971 mustang restoration using spi products

Thought I would post a couple pics of my 71 mustang I’ve owned since 1983 (bought it the last week of my senior year in high school)
I repainted it in Ppg ddl around 1986 and drove it occasionally up until 2001 when I parked it until 2017. I decided then to completely restore the car to address some issues that happened over the years . I’ve been working on it off and on since 2017 and finally got it painted last weekend.
I used all spi epoxy on the bare metal/ spi epoxy reduced for sealer then applied Ppg concept single stage. Waited 24 hours and sanded the single stage and then shot 3 coats of spi universal clear . Hopefully I can get it all back together yet this summer.
I’ll try to update as it progresses
The last picture is from 2017 before I started the restoration. It didn’t look bad in that picture but had a lot of little issues that I wasn’t happy with.

Oh Dude! That's exactly the model I had. Ram air and factory hood pins, Cleveland with a 780 holley. Would break 'em loose at 50mph. Of all the cars I've owned this one is indelibly etched in my mind. Gorgeous car, great job!

Yep I had a 780 dp on the Cleveland in this car til I couldn’t afford to put gas in it anymore! Lol. I put a edelbrock 625 or 650 on it then and it was better on fuel but just not as fun as the 780 was !

Finally getting this project about finished. Couple little things to button up and should be done!
Thought I would update the post

Man thats a helluva good job! My ‘71 was green, ram air with hood pins just like yours. Had it about 1976 when i was in autobody school. One of my top ten favorite cars. Had throttle from bottom to very top. Excellent job on yours!

Looks amazing. Please tell me you do this professionally, because if you're a resident hack then I need to turn in my hack card!
thanks for the compliments and yes I do collision work for a living and some restorations at my home shop on the side.
But the whole reason I redid this car was to undo the work I did years ago (1985) to it that I wasn’t really proud of! The paint looked decent (lacquer) but I had primer overspray that blew in the door jambs and could’ve did a better job at patching ( hacking as you called it) the inner wheelhouses back then.
I was a stupid 22 year old kid who thought he knew what he was doing! Lol
Fast forward to now and I’ve learned so much over the years in the shop on the right way to do this type of work.
When I decided to restore this car I wanted to make sure I did it the right way and take no shortcuts.
Everyone has to start somewhere and learn from there mistakes I guess!
