Currently I finally got around to starting the tailgate last weekend. I had it blasted, sprayed 2 coats of epoxy on it, and then spread a little filler on some spot welds. It got another coat of epoxy today and Im trying to decide what I want to do next. I think Im going to go to some feather fill and try to get the stamped lettering blocked a little better.

Looking good sprint! :) It's amazing isn't how how rough GM left those tailgates from the factory. One I'm working on the spot welds on the edges are really rough. Lots of distortion around each spot weld Not to mention it's in a C-shape and the owner doesn't want to get a reproduction because of how much thinner the repops are. Trying to straighten one of them is work. Those factory tailgates are heavy. :) Heck everything on those trucks is heavy. Feel like I'm gonna have a hernia everytime I pick up the hood to put it on a rack. You are doing a great job BTW.

Looks like a few posts were lost in the cloud crash.

I did see all the responses before they were lost and it really meant a lot to me, thanks everyone.

Been plugging away on the tailgate. My tailgate is actually not factory, the entire box wasnt, its all repop from over seas. Im actually quite happy with the tailgate for the most part for being a repop its pretty nice. Heck I saw a factory GMC tailgate today and my repop had less distortion when comparing.

I blocked feather fill and then 2 more coats of epoxy. I had kind of hoped to just use the 2 coats of epoxy and not use any 2k but I have a couple spots that might need some 2k so I might do 1 coat. Its kind of a judgement call and a tough one to make cause I think it would make it without the 2k but Im not 100% sure on it.

After I finished up on the tailgate for today I took my truck out for some tuning. Ive been working on the MAF sensor table and I think I have it pretty close so Im about to move on from that. I have been addressing a bunch of little gremlins, some of which are fixed and some are not.

I finally decided to make a pit stop for some outdoor pictures on my cruise today, it was a beautiful day.

I don't know what to say that I haven't already said. Beautiful work as always sprint!

Have you been hot rodding it at least a little? I bet it's a blast to drive.

Thanks everyone.

I haven't done much hot rodding yet, I did do one run from about 10 mph up through a gear or two hitting around 5000 rpms and it seemed pretty stout. I was a little worried if a 5.3 would be adequate for what I wanted, I really thought about a set of heads for it back when I had it apart. After that pass those thoughts were pretty much put to rest, its way better than I anticipated.

Finished up one more piece of the puzzle. I cant thank you guys enough for all the pointers, I never thought it would work out but it ended up coming out great. It was kind of a goal of mine to have the letters in paint instead of a sticker, it was a challenge but well worth it. Probably give it a good week before I get it installed.

You're the man sprint! I briefly browsed through your post about the letters and can tell that you put a lot of thought and time into them and they look perfect.
