1K primer question.....

Ok, I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but what the hell here it goes.... Are there any rattle can 1k primers that SPI epoxy is compatible with on top of? Sometimes when I have a small dime sized spot where I may have to prime its kind of a pain to break out gun, mix up some 2k spray it and wait.... Im just looking for something to help with maybe a quick fix on maybe a burn through...something of that nature.. Im not looking to prime an entire panel!! lol. I think most of the "production" type guys on this site know what I'm getting at here.

If you mean break throughs, like to bare metal,
most rattle can primers are lacquer and not meant to be used over bare metal.
They really don't adhere and will let rust form underneath because they don't seal.
If you're talking about break throughs to existing paint, then any primer will
go over that.

No I mean break through on clear to base, not to metal. I always use epoxy as a sealer so im just concerned laying epoxy on top.

I'd be concerned that the lacquer primer would cause wrinkling. Would an activated intercoat be better?

If you still have sealer under it, dont you just go back to base?
You can but on repairs on fresh clears ive had wrinkle issues. im just looking for an easier way to fix a small issue rather then mixing, gun cleaning etc.... maybe I sound lazy but lately im tired of wasting time.

We keep a can of that Transtar around. Mainly for new bumper covers that might have a scratch or a nick. A little polyflex and a couple light coats of the spray bomb, sand lightly to make ready for sealer. One can lasts us about 6 months. It's just a reality in the collision repair world that you can't screw around mixing 2K for every little boo-boo that's not getting paid for.

It's your choice; usually, they spot a couple of light coats of the base with lots of flash; if you rush it, it will wrinkle.
Some will spot seal with epoxy, but what crash said will work in a small area.
