3m Platinum plus over 2k primer

I sprayed 2 coats of 2k primer on the front body section of my corvette and I have a few small imperfections. After filling with 3M platinum plus and blocking entire body with 220 should I spot prime filler with epoxy before spraying more 2k or can I spray 2k directly over filler? Whats the best procedure? I'm all ears.

If there are spots of bare fiberglass/SMC, you would be better off spraying epoxy for sure. Many of us would lay down a coat of epoxy no matter what, but it's not mandatory over filler, 2K works fine.

Thanks crash. No spots of SMC just small imperfections. So if I understand correctly if I spot epoxy over the sanded filler just to be safe and then spray 1 or 2 more coats of 2k reg build primer block with 600 and then spray a coat of epoxy sealer over entire body before spraying base this would be a good way to proceed.

After re-reading your post, I see that you are applying standard plastic filler over 2K primer, is that right? That's not standard procedure. How old was the 2K primer before the filler was put on top of it?

I haven't applied any filler yet. Just sprayed the 2k primer this morning. Was planning on using 3M platinum finishing glaze for the minor imperfections unless you suggest something different.

I am with crash not a fan of body filler over 2K fresh primer. Can you move out to sun for some time? Small pin size should be ok with filler any thing larger go with epoxy and plenty of time.

Cant move car into sun but I can wait to apply 3m platinum glaze. Is their a difference between let's say rage body filler and 3m platinum glaze. So if you find small imperfections after spraying 2k primer and they're bigger then a pinhole but just slight surface imperfections that are just a little to deep for primer to fill in what's the correct way to do it. I'm willing to do whatever is the correct way. Thank for any help.

Glazing putty (excluding any old 1 part types) is the thing to use over primer as opposed to regular fillers. I've used glaze, such as evercoat metal glaze or even the old #400 over sanded paint years ago with no issues.
Another option is sprayable primer, such as evercoat g-2 & sand off everything you don't need. Can spot spray a little extra over truly needed areas before doing whole panel. I'd hand fill any pinholes with glaze first though. Sprayable primer can speed you up fine tuning a panel when used correctly.

Polyester primer is not recommended for use over fresh applications of 2k primer. Ideally any work requiring any polyester filler or primer should be complete before applying urethane primer. If polyester putty is to be used on urethane primer, the primer should be well cured first.

Don't use 2k primer too much, sorry if I gave bad advice. I definitely never use it for more than a final fine smoothing if at all.
If you can't get into natural sunlight, artificial uv light will greatly speed up cure time. Just not free like the sun & need to be more careful with uv heat not to get too close . Infared temp gauges are your best friend when using them.
