never a problem with me . odd car. deluxe with skirts and visor but no radio . there is a 2dr here that is still running and looks great. folks have 2 . fleetline and a styline but wont sell either of them .

10 hrs and 500 miles later the last one is on the farm . nice car with min rust . scored a set of fender skirts with it . 700 for it. title is 400 , skirts are worth 250 so i gave 50 bucks for the car :) .

not sure how i missed these other than my surgery was in may . these cars are becoming a little more popular i believe . but sadly the market is in the tank . i am building a new shed to put mine under out of the weather. going to hold off until summer to see what is happening .
on a side note i'm going to pick up a falcon sat . parts car with a title . has buckets and console i can sell . but it gives me a good hood , tunk with a lock , clutch pedal and a few other parts i need .

i am going to build a frame jig to do corvette suspension on these cars since i have 4 frames . just trying to talk myself into pulling the trigger . when we have a killer economy like now car prices tank . folks have better places to park money . we'll see what BJ does this year .

selling at 50 cent on the dollars is the average. you cant do a frame off then sell it for 30-35 k . mid 60 muscle cars do semi good but most all others are down . even those are hard pressed to make money .

We have never be able to pay someone, or ourselves, to restore a car just the way we want it to suit our own taste, then sell it for what is invested in it. You can only judge the market by what has happened before IMO. This resto-mod doesn't have an LS engine, nor fuel injection, nor custom interior and sold for $99,000. Early Mustangs did very well also, but tri-5s and Mustangs are the only ones I paid attention to.

In my experience if you want to build a car for resale profit you need to set your personal tastes aside and do your homework to understand what sells in the market. I have a friend who consistently sells his builds for a sizable profit by doing precisely that.

I can't do this as a hobby . It's how I make a living . I've done ok but the market has cooled down . Cars that were bringing 125k are now selling at 60 to 70k . It will come back when the stock market corrects .

One major thing is that demographics are shifting. What was popular is not as popular today. Guys in their forties want the cars (and trucks) they lusted after in their teens.
This is what guys my age liked when I was in my teens

That's good money for that truck. It's where the market is going.

Japanese stuff is starting to pickup. Again guys my age wanted this stuff but couldn't afford it.

https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1993-TOYOTA-SUPRA-TURBO-LIFTBACK-237705 Sold for $104,500

Studying various auction results one thing I've noticed is that if you have something that's popular, or special and done right it will bring the money. If it's not or it's kinda run of the mill it won't. There is a lot of shiny crap run through at BJ and Mecum. RM, Gooding, Bonham's are much more picky about what they auction.

Example

You could have made good money doing that truck.

Case in point (for the won't)
https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1955-GMC-100-CUSTOM-PICKUP-236992 Sold for $59400

On paper that truck should have brought 6 figures, Gold Star for someone to point out why it didn't.;)

Not sure if I will get the gold star but that interior is hideous imho. Otherwise I love Cameo pickups and this one has a great build sheet.

The wheels don't fit the truck, and like Don said, ugly interior. Engine bay looks too busy, hoses and wires everywhere, and GMC trucks of that era aren't as popular as the 3100's. Passenger side door looks pretty wavy.

That last 10% that takes the most time is the difference. Fit, finish, tire and wheel choice, color choice, interior, engine compartment, all have to impress. I think the grill, interior, and wheel choice make it look like an older restoration.
