8000 trizact

Tried the 8000 on black SPI single stage today. I like it. Also tried the 3D ACA500 that Jim C recommended. Seems to cut fast, I like it. End result is good enough for the driver quality cars I build.

This forum is a great resource. I really appreciate the guys who share their knowledge and experience.

yeah i am really liking the 3d compound. so far its the best one i have used. i have had zero scratches coming back, cuts really quick and leaves a nice swirl free gloss.

LOL. Actually that is a complete 59 El Camino sitting on my frame table. Project is stalled while I do projects for others. Hope to get back on my cars later this year. I’ve got a 56 Cameo and a 57 Caballero in storage too.

I used the 3d compound and polish on my last job and I was extremely happy with the results. I only cut it down to 3000 though. I was gonna try 8000 but it was $126 a box at my local jobber and I was tired of spending money.

you should be able to find that for just under $100. i think its $96 from my jobber. while its great, if your using the 3d500 compound its not really a must unless your working a very cured and hard clear. ending with the 3000 trizact is fine and still buffs easy. spi clear anyway.

3M compounds I tried are full of fillers that die back in short order. The 3D products are superior imho….

When you have the pros like Jim here recommending the 3D compounds there really is no reason to start experimenting with different compounds.

Thanks Don
Agreed. I have the ACA500 and the Menzerna 3 in 1 which are nice. I was just wondering if the mindset has changed since you can skip the compound step going to 8000 and using the lavender pad and the 33039. TIA

Edit: Could I use the Menzerna 3 in 1 or 3d 520 with the lavender pad and skip the wool pad and ACA500?

I wouldnt. In a perfect world you could skip. I have yet to be able to skip the compound step even with 8000. Its close but there are always areas that have residual scratches from the grit or two prior. Edges or tight areas etc.

Okay. Thanks for that. Don has stated he used DA sanding so I've been scouring the forum and watching the Trizact videos for some guidance. Although I still hand sand up to 1500 for now. I wasn't sure if it had stayed the same polishing process as things progress so rapidly. Is there any sense in getting the lavender pad? Thanks

Edit: What I mean is the lavender pad as final.
