Adhesion Coat

I'm a little ahead of the game, but I figured I ask this before I finish sanding and start the body work on my car. My car has plastic bumpers that I removed and plan on painting off the car. The bumper is PPO type plastic. Will it need adhesion promoter on it? I'm not planning on sanding thru to plastic. Will try to keep the OE primer intact. However, there are a couple of spots that I will be fixing with Fusor plastic stuff.

Thanks,
Karmin

if there is no raw plastic exposed then u dont need to worry about adhesion promoter.. but if u have raw plastic.. then yes u need it.

If all the factory coating is intact, you can scuff it very well with a red pad then apply epoxy. Repairs can then be performed on top of the epoxy with no need for promoter, and less chance of breaking all the way through.

But unless the repairs are extremely minor, you can count on busting through in spots, in which case you will need at least a little promoter as sik says.

I confess that when the areas are very small, I still keep a spray can of Bulldog around. If SPI adpro came in a spray can, that would be the choice for small spots.
