Arctic White....SS or BC /CC ...and why

Well summer is coming and I hope to start getting color on my truck, and planning on going with GM Arctic White.
There was a lot of talk on here about black SS or bc/cc and was wondering if there would be a preferable choice and why for a beginner, painting outside.
I started looking at paints such as Motobase, Wanda and the local parts place sells Dynacoat which is an Akzonobel paint but probably the bottom of the line paint.
After all the looking around I'm more confused then ever. But at least I decided on a color!

Any direction or advice would be appreciated,

If I were going with a solid color with no metallic or graphics, I would go SS.
The reason is "keep it simple." One less stage to the project, with the same ability to cut/buff out any trash or runs.

My understanding of GM Artic White is "A bright white with no pearl." Given that, why not SPI #4200-1 Pure Clean White Single Stage?
Great product, great price.

For a beginner (like me!) I would get a practice panel, like a hood, door or fender, and paint it through all the phases, including cut and buff, before doing the whole vehicle. The learning and confidence building will be invaluable.

I did that and then tackled a whole car paint job which came out pretty good: http://www.spiuserforum.com/index.php?threads/02-suburban-re-paint-thread.8219/

SS is tougher, does not delaminate like a base sometimes can. Simpler to spray, less labor. SS solid colors look more authentic, less glassy or plastic like a BC/CC can.
Advantages of BC/CC is repairability, better metallic control among other things.
Solid colors SS is a good choice.
Don't buy any till you check here. Like base not all SS is created equal. What's it going on?

Thanks for the the tips Dean, I'd love to use the SPI pure white, but its to bright and I remember someone on here having trouble toning it down to a summit white and that would be way out of my comfort zone.

Thanks Chris, It won't be warm enough around here to get the primer finished for a couple months, Just getting a plan together right now.
It will be going over 2-3 coats of SPI white epoxy (or white with a touch of black to help me see what I'm doing) it's a 85 Chevy truck. Not really doing a restoration, more like a preservation. It won't get driven much but will be sitting out in the elements.

i like ss for white. you job will actually come out cleaner in ss. with base/clear you get your white base down all nice but any dirt you pick up while clearing will show as a speck of dirt and show up usually as a dark speck. with ss, every coat will cover any dirt specs with pigment so in the end your job will have less visible trash in it. everything stick outs bad to me on a bright white job.

Does anyone have any experience with the Dynacoat Products? I thought I'd get a quart locally and try it on a spare hood that I have. It will also give me a chance to try out my new LPH 400.
