Are you looking for a Shop ? I am available in Virginia

Trying to be the best me, I can be
Hi everyone. My name is Christian Meyer. I have a small one man Shop located in Southside Virginia approximately 3 hours from Washington DC and about an hour and a half from Raleigh North Carolina.

Many of you know me here but for those that don't my name is Chris, I've been in paint and bodywork my entire adult life and recently started working for myself.
I am 50 and have over 30 years experience working at a variety of Shops, both in restoration and collision. I am experienced in all phases of a repair or restoration.

Covid and inflation got in the way of my plans to build a new Shop on my land so for the time being I'm still working out of my small garage but I am fully capable of doing high quality work.

If you are looking for someone to do your car I may be the person for you. Whether it's a small repair or a full Restoration.

If you have a project that is stalled, perhaps at a Shop and it's not being worked on, or a project that other Shops don't want to work on, I welcome those type of jobs.

I only work on one job at the time and strive to do the best I can . My rates are very reasonable. All work is billed by time and materials. My labor rate is $45/hour.
If you are interested you can contact me via phone, text, email, or a PM here on the site. Thanks.

Thanks to SPI's Barry Kives for suggesting I do this and allowing me to advertise here on the forum.

Going rate here in Southern Idaho is $65. I can't imagine Virginia being that much less expensive to do business in, but rates do vary widely. I know we have taken two substantial increases since all this inflation and supply-chain nonsense.

I can make a living at the rate I stated billing T&M. My overhead is very low, and I am working out of a small unimpressive space. I am living debt free as well. Everything have is mine so my personal bills are low each month. When I build my Shop my rates will increase. Feel like I have to do that to attract the right jobs.

Have you got any jobs yet?
Supposedly I have 2 Porsche 911's coming in. I don't count on anything till it's sitting in the Shop though. Both of those came from other channels though. (Porsche forums) Gotten some inquiries from this but nothing concrete yet.
Almost done with what I'm working on now which has been a real albatross on my back. I'll be real happy to get it done and on to something else.:)

I ask because there are always guys on my Mustang forum asking for places to get their car painted. You'd be a good one, especially with your rates, even if somebody had to ship their car to you. So I can put a word out but wanted to make sure you weren't snowed.

That is very kind of you and would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i wish you weren't so far away . i turn down work these days and have no recommendations to give. my painting cars days are over.
i think a man can make better money buying/redoing/selling . not full resto but buy someone's project and finish in it.

Lots of times people judge the quality of your work by what you charge.. however I know of several people whose work is not the quality of what is charged. That's sad because the customer has no idea.

Believe me I will charge more at some point in the not so distant future. Definitely when I build my Shop. Just need to get some jobs "out there" so to speak. I think doing the two Porsche's will set me up to do more. Plan on posting the cars in the Porsche forums and I think that will lead to more.

@shine That's very nice of you Sir. Means a lot coming from you. I'm hoping to do a couple to re-sell when I get enough working capital to do so. I have a certain amount set aside that is "untouchable" for the rainy days so when I get enough to be comfortable I will do a couple to re-sell. Have both cars already and a lot of the parts. I think doing them will give me enough to build my Shop or capital to do more like that. We'll see. Gotta crawl before you can walk.
