When doing repair work with universal, I have to turn the pressure down to get enough texture to match factory finishes. Slick is in the eye of the beholder. Have a really good friend with a black show truck I painted 9 years ago that never got buffed. Painted in pieces, flow coated, and to 99% of the people it is slick, but I have tried to get him to let me buff it, but he won't. Size of the job makes a huge difference, as well. Easy to get a motorcycle tank slick, but a complete 57 Cadillac painted all at once is a whole different thing. I think any quality gun can be made to work. First sprayed universal with a supernova 1.3. Took a few jobs, but dialed it in pretty good. Then went to my old lph with a 1.3, worked well but had to slow down too much on a big job, and got more wave than I wanted. Ordered a 1.4 for the lph and pretty much have it dialed in to do what I want.
