ceramic coating buffing

I know nothing about ceramic coating...if i need to buff a spot on a car that has it, do i go at it like normal or does the coating need to be removed ?
 
I am in the same boat. Heard a guy who does detailing talking about how great it was but until I hear from the pros on here I will remain skeptical.
 
Some will come off with w&g remover, and some must be sanded off. The last one I did had to be sanded off. The owner spent some ungodly amount of money on it and it would not come off with any solvent or w&g remover that I tried.

Some must be buffed off.
No way to know unless you know the manufacture and ask.
Sad have a high dollar shop now with two retro jobs about six months old within a week, had two cars come back bubbling.
The two people knew each other, and both had their cars ceramic coated.
 
There are lots of new products popping ,Hybrids & diy coatings. Many probably don't block the paint as bad as the full on professional coatings, but I'm remaining on the skeptics list, ESPECIALLY with anything other than a paper thin factory paint job. I'd prefer to not even do carnuba on a showcar thickness paint any less than over a year later for fear of solvent trap. Sand into a quality paint job 10 to 20 years later & it still has some fresh paint smell.
Many of these coatings advertise higher gloss levels, but anyone that knows their a$$ from a hole in the ground knows they need paint correction first, which is where most of the added gloss comes from.
