challenger???

It's by Axalta. Value line, geared toward Used Car market, lower end collision repair. Read the TDS that's enough to scare me off it.

From the TDS:
**IMPORTANT TECHNICAL NOTES: To prevent white peeling when un-tapping, the best
practice recommendation is when two-toning with white; slightly over
-reduce, using a slower
solvent AND 5% CH0055
Fast hardener. Allow a 10 minute flash between coats, then a 20
minute minimum wait to unmask two-toned color and clear. When pulling the tape away
AFTER the 20 minute minimum wait, pull the tape at a 45° angle using extreme care.
Always spray white over P400-P500 grit sandpaper scratch. Do not apply Challenger White
basecoat over adhesion promoter, as peeling does occur when using either on all panels
that have been tested.

@rp there are better options out there. What are you looking to do? A couple that come to mind that are reasonably priced are Wanda and Motobase.

but we gotta have an open mind and try every new snake oil that comes out . just because it was junk yesterday doesn't mean it's junk today . i see a terrible trend here. same i saw on autobody 101 right before it went spam city junkyard .

Shine, do explain as we don't want to be like the mentioned site, so all opinions are welcome.

at one time that other site was ok. then it got covered up with spammers pushing cheap junk and wrecking yard work . all it takes is 1 job failure to ruin a small shop or to destroy a years worth of work by a diy guy . i cant count how many times i get messages on how do i repair this or do i have to start over. especially corvette guys. all because of some BS advice given on forums. put 100's of hours into a job then totally destroy it trying to save a little money on cheap 3rd line junk .
to be honest i dont think theres anyplace left for old farts like me anymore. just too old to argue . . if paint is too expensive sell your paint guns and buy a fishing pole , minnows are cheap .

I know what you are saying but this is a much more knowledge loaded forum so that items will get fully vetted.
I quoted two statements in the company tech sheet and said why? And no thanks.
I deleted the post as I wanted to hear your thoughts and thought you were referring to my post

I think this place has been perfect at helping people with other products that are not SPI and I encourage that.

Now is the poster a spammer for the product, could be but I don't think so by reading the post, but I could be wrong and time will tell.

As always shine, we value your opinion, and I do genuinely appreciate it.

I was looking for a cheaper line to add to my jobber store. I currently sell Prospray and its good but some people want something cheaper. Any suggestions on a lower end line? thanks

Can't go wrong with Wanda, moto base or metal lux.
Just beware as some bad choices out there as know of potential lawsuits with a couple of jobbers that got sold a bill of goods.
Do your due diligence, before jumping.

if that is what your wanting to provide your customers understand that one failure can very well end it for you. it is well known that a customer that has a failure even if it his own fault screams louder and longer then one that has successfully completed a job. you could be very well known as selling total crap products. it is up to you to decide if you want to roll that dice and risk it. remember in the end it will be you they look at. I will never go down that road or play that game.

that's my 2 cents

I understood what Shine was saying and referring to but also understand that others might not have. keep up the solid advice Shine, talk to ya soon, you always make my day brighter just wish we lived closer so I could try your brides jelly.

If you get down to a few choices, feel free to call me, I don't sell base so you will get a nonbiased answer.
I have pissed reps off in the past doing this, but that's life.
My favorite saying is not going to tell you what you want to hear but my experience from the 1100 to 1400 tech calls I get a month.

last thing i will say about products .
just pray you never have to stare at a 10k paint job on a finished assembled car and realize the few hundred dollars saved on a new base will require tearing down and starting over . recovering the loss is impossible . it is just a 15k loss in money/time plus lost production time on other projects so add another 25k + .
imho any 2nd line or worse is never worth the little money you saved .

I keep reading this tech info and just can't get over it.
Just one comment;

Formulation class 101: ( the first thing you learn)
If you are relying on reducer or solvent for adhesion your formula is all screwed up, so start over.

Unbelievable!

I remember wondering for years why one paint line was less costly than another by the same company. No one had any answers.
Not even the jobber. Then I found this forum.
Questions answered.
