IMHO all powerglides are oversized paperweights. Two speed tyranny just doesn't cut it, in any car, at anytime, "original" be damned.Lol. The one 348 I had could never get it to not run hot...and every single powerglide I've had leaked....the 283 run like a sewing machine and good on gas...need that these days
"W" series chevy motors (348, 409) can be very cool, especially with tri-power. Just don't Rev high, they were designed as a truck motor for low end torque and will come apart above ~ 6000 RPM.
