If you are buying used, its worth the money to buy it and replace the three phase motor with a single phase motor.

Maybe yes. Maybe not. You had better price a good 5-7 1/2 hp motor before you decide if it is worth it.

If you are replacing a compressor, odds are the motor was not the reason you are replacing it or you would have just changed the motor.

Amazon sells WEG motors for around 500, Lessons for 650. If you are saving a thousand or more on a good compressor, its more than worth it. I mean, I have so many tanks I usually just buy the pump with flywheel anyway. They have those as well.
