Confused again, reducer this time

The spot is low enough to lay something in it I think.
I didn't mean that I was only going to 1500, but was curious how it's done in the real world of collision.
Heck I kind of screwed myself now that I got a smooth door I'll have to match everything else to it. But I'll have a long cold winter to do it in.

here's my 1500 I have some 2000 to try, but I'll need to look into finer stuff and a rotary buffer. It's going to get expensive.... againView attachment 22333
One of the things I see novices doing is picking and choosing parts of various cut and buff methods posted here. My advice to you is pick the method used by someone who’s work you like and follow it to a tee. Don’t mix and match methods….

Question is,
How 'far do you really need to go?
It's a driver which I don't expect is going to any showings.
If you plan on staying in the hobby and future projects, get all the necessary things.
1500 and couple of buffer pads, compound and your done.
The Blue Chevelle was 1500 wet blocked, wool pad and Perfect it III compound and was Very Respectful.
Was it 'show quality" No,but looked better than anything else at the Track.
Never even heard of Trizact back then. 2000 was the Exotic paper.
You can get caught up in This to No end when in reality,K.I.S.S. still works.
Just saying from been there, done it.

And there lies my problem, My original intent was to fix the rust, shoot some epoxy and paint, but now I'm thinking I should got the extra step or ten, I'm still not looking for a show truck But why not make it better then I had planned.
I do see a big ol rabbit hole ahead.

This guy has Trizact 3000 for a low price. It’s not the best but a box will easily do your truck.

Lol..
It's only money,right?
I have to get a lot of new stuff. All my foam buffing pads are toast, basically Anything involving 'soft rubber' of any sort is crumbled or rotted, hookit II da pads which are made from unobtainum now,my da interface pads, basically everything but my sanding blocks But I still have a bunch of sandpaper and da disk papers so it's not all bad. Had to cobble up a hookit II replacement da pad with some Velcro carpet that does fine on a recent project but the interface is another story.

Welcome to the Club !

Just go have a shop bid the paint job. A few bucks on supplies and a little extra time to make it better than OK will seem like small potatoes when you see what they will charge ;)
