Does anyone know of a source to get the desiccant media cheaper than what devilbiss charges for a kit?

Here is the one I got a few years ago. Works great. Much cheaper than the Devillbiss ones which have rocketed up in price over the last few years. This type is the kind you can recharge the dessicant by putting in the oven for a bit. Whether it'll work in the Devillbiss ones that use a bag with the dessicant I don't know.

You are stuck with overpriced Devilbiss for the recharge. I pulled my Devilbiss out some time back and replaced with the Arrow unit that uses loose fill beads that you can regenerate in your oven. I do not believe that you could use a bag of loose fill beads in the Devilbiss housing, as I believe that the cartridge is designed to distribute the air properly through the desiccant, and do not believe it would work well without the cartridge. You also would need an ultra-fine filter after the beads, to remove any fine dust that is generated by the desiccant. The Devilbiss has an integrated filter, wile the Arrow system uses a separate filter unit. It paid for itself in very short order!

Guess I should show what I have.

That's the old DAD-500 right? If my memory serves the desiccant is loose in those? That being the case the Arrow refill or any loose desiccant would work fine. You could also save yours and try baking it in the oven at low temps to regenerate it. 250-275 degrees.

Oh ya, shes old! $75 almost 10 years ago! I dont know how much longer shell go though. I've had to epoxy a few holes..I almost bought one like you posted last night.
