Back in 2001 I painted my Mustang with Dupont Chromabase and Dupont 7800s Glamour clear. It still looks great today.
I have since moved and now live close to a PPG dealer so I switched to PPG products about 10 years ago, also with great success (I use SPI Universal clear)
My dilemma is I have to put a new hood on my stang and will paint the cowl and the tops of the fenders so at least all of that will match.
I "heard" Dupont doesn't make Chromabase anymore. Not only that but I don't know where a Dupont dealer is near me (Waterford Michigan).
I understand the paint color won't match perfect with something that was painted 18 years ago, but, would there be any difference in color if I used DBC or Chromabase?
Here is a scan of the original paint formula for the Dupont. It is Cabernet Red.
What are my other options? I want to buy 2 qts of paint as I may be doing more paint work on the car.
Thanks
