Epoxy as a sealer pot life

M

Mustangman

Hi, jambing in a mustang and mixed a too much sealer. Mixed 1:1:1 (8oz spi epoxy, 8oz activator, and 8 oz reducer). How long is the pot life?Might be a couple of days before I get more parts ready. Thanks.

I believe manual says between 72 & 120 hours in sealed container. Depends on temps. Recently has some set up after 4 days in our n fla record heat. Last Monday in still warm but milder temps ,mixed extra & used a little on some parts every evening till killing off Friday. With just a splash of reducer when mixed, was still just as good 99 hours later. Have went 5 days before, setting sealed mixture in my house or work offices ( don't tell my wife).
Remember not to let mix get under 65 degrees.

Thanks, i have used unreduced epoxy after 72 hours with no problems. I read that the reducer speeds up the cure time so i didn't know if this affects pot life too. I was thinking I should have just mixed the epoxy as normal and let it induce, and then added reducer just before use. I am in Maryland and it is getting cool here, but I have a heated garage. I will make sure to keep it about 70 degrees or so.
