Epoxy cleaning

Hi, I’m using 3m performance spray heads (plastic) and I can’t find any solvent that will clean the epoxy out of them. I’m in California so not sure if that is the problem with the acetone/thinners I can gey. Any ideas? Thank you

Lacquer thinner works ok but it doesn’t seem to get it completely clean. The heads are plastic so maybe I’m just expecting too much….

I use carburetor cleaner. Quick spray and the paint is gone.

Lacquer thinner works great.

Not all lacquer thinners are created equal. Some of it is pure garbage. Get it from a paint jobber. Never from Home Depot or Lowes.

Might also be waiting too long.
I use a 3m Accuspray with plastic heads for epoxy and Lacquer cleans it with ease.

If you wait too long, no solvent will clean it. Chris is right about what they call lacquer thinner. Some of it won't even clean base coat very well. The quality varies greatly. I give the guns a final rinse with urethane reducer, just to make sure.

I’m not waiting long but I’m not cleaning between coats. Thanks for all the tips.

I never clean between coats of epoxy aside from a quick wipe of the nozzle fwiw.

Don
