Epoxy over high build primer

Hi guys, have been a member for awhile but my first post needing advice. I recently acquired a project car (1966 mustang Eleanor) the previous owner sprayed evercoat 4 to 1 high build primer on the fiberglass parts but didn’t use epoxy under the high build. My question is can I spray epoxy over the primer and then a couple of coats of SPI primer so I can wet sand? Also what grit should I sand the high build before applying the epoxy?

You can also just use the epoxy for block sanding just before paint if you want. The evercoat bonds plenty good enough directly to fiberglass , so should come out fine.

Ok another question, as I have been sanding the fiberglass parts that have the evercoat with 180 I have hit gelcoat In a few spots. Before spraying the epoxy should I scuff the gelcoat spots with 80?

No 180 is fine. 80 grit would only apply to steel. Gelcoat is a softer material so the 180 scratches are perfect.
