OK guys, just like the title states, Epoxy reduced 25% (no sand before base) or Epoxy unreduced (sand before base). Any advantage to spraying Epoxy unreduced before base ( this will be sanded w 400 for a solid color before base).

I always seal with reduced epoxy. A quick denib with a sanding sponge before base if needed. 25% reduced I shoot sealer in the afternoon and base next morning.

Thx Don, what kind of sanding sponge should I get ? Thx again.

dons method is great. another way to go about this is to spray the epoxy, wait 30-60 min, get your first coat of base on then you can denib the base then finish off the rest of the coats. the base will denib easier than fresh epoxy. once all your base is on then let sit a few hours or overnight and clear the next day. either way you do it, there isnt any need to fully sand out the epoxy before you put base on it assuming you got it to lay smooth and even with no cratering.

Thank you Jim!

I use an 800 grit sponge. A quick swipe and the nib is gone. Something like these

i love those hand pads that don posted. the foam is a perfect density to squeeze it into tight spots. the only thing i dont like is both the 3m and norton ones dont last very long or cut very fast. what i do here is once the grit is wiped out i will buy the eagle assilex sheets and use the hand pads as a backup pad for those. it cuts way faster and last easily 6-10 times longer than the grit on the pad originally.

Thanks for this explanation - I am trying to learn all I can on what to do if things go wrong or don't turn out perfect. At the same time trying not to over think it.
