Everything was going pretty well I thought. I had two coats of under coat base on with thirty minutes between them. After about an hour I started putting my first coat of inter coat base on lay and then clear coat comes afterwards.and didn't realize anything was wrong till I stepped back and saw this hairline cracked spot. Thought it was just a hair or something in the paint, but its a crack. Only spot anywhere that did this. How would you recommend dealing with this ? I still have one more coat of intercoat to lay, and then clear coat comes afterward. This is Ford Code RR three phase paint. Using Automotive Art Moto Base LV. Thanks for any ideas...

Not sure, but it's not good! Usually cracks like that are associated with excessive material buildup and possibly trapped solvent or inadequately activated body filler. I think if it was mine to do I would be cursing and grinding it all away to the bone to see what happened.

Yes I already cursed. Ive been talking to TexasKing about it and he had similar thought as you mentioned. That area had no filler under it and the epoxy primer under it had been down for weeks . Also had a couple coats of 2K primer that was mostly blocked off. Yesterday sanded it all down to 400 and put a coat of epoxy sealer getting it ready to shoot today. First two coats of undercoat went on fine, but next (first) coat of intercoat had some kind of reaction. Had an hour of time between the coats and all was very dry. Maybe my first coat of inter was too wet...I just called it quits for the night. Will block that spot down in the morning and see if the crack is only base coat deep. Hope so.

Oh, well if you are working with Texasking you should continue to do so. I have not used Motobase, and your post is not clear as to whether all the products are from the same system and used as directed. It could simply be that there is a film build problem in the overlap area.

Only using the two base coats in motobase. Everything else from inception on the job is all SPI. Epoxy, reducer, 2K primer, activator, clear coat, etc.
