Just finished this project for a really cool old dude. Guys been building the car for about 8 years. Was driving it around in primer forever(yes it all came off), but here are some pics of the process and final results.

Materials used:
Super build 4:1
SPI Epoxy
Automotive Art Base coats
SPI UV clear
Wizards Polishing products
Lots of sweat!

Dropped off:

The hood never shut right, turns out the hinges were assembled wrong and binding up which caused the old screws to basically rip out. I installed new rivnuts and epoxied them in.

Now that that part was over, it was time to dig into the body. The old guy tried to do it himself years ago.

He filled the doors with some expanding foam that completly bubbled out the doors. I had to chisel this shit out and basically cut and reglass the doors to get them flat.

Lovely result!

Always loved the AC Cobras... Back in the early 70's, I'd ordered a part for the 63 XKE convertible I was restoring and when I went to pick it up in Worcester, MA they had a 289 AND a 427 Cobra on the showroom floor. $5k for the 289, $10k for the 427. I COULD have bought both by digging deep, but bought neither, as I had no additional indoor storage. I've kicked myself ever since...

Beautiful job I really like the colors. One of these is definitely on my bucket list.

i made custom hardwood dashes for these cars in the 90's . all kinds of inlaid work and different exotic woods . i must have painted 50 of them .

Excellent. All that blocking paid off its super straight. Only epoxy and poly used for the surface work? Have you ever compared the 4:1 poly to slick sand?
Got to love the 4th photo down in post 4 of the side of the front fender. You can really see how straight that is.

Carpet seriously ? I always put plastic down . Always looking for a better way . Does carpet really help ? I would think fibers/dust and such would be sucked right up to the paint with the static carpet creates

I’ve seen a few shops on Instagram that have it and swear by it, one SPI shop that turns out high quality work. How long it lasts and how often they have to vacuum I have no clue.

Carpet sounds like not a bad idea if treated properly. Carpet catches dust & takes a much stronger wind or suction to release dust than a smooth surface.
I go in customer's houses some of the time. Some dirty &/ or pets.
See hair & dustballs blowing across tile & hardwood floors. YES
See em blowing across carpet. NOPE.
Just a thought.
