FedEx Ground For The Win

Combo Man & Mod
I ordered Euro and UC on the morning of Feb 6th, and it arrived here today, the 9th. So much better than UPS, who take at least 5 business days to get me stuff from SPI. Just thought I would mention it, and I hope to be able to specify FedEx as a shipping option in the future, since they are almost twice as fast!

Glad it's working out for you Crash. I have a horrible FedEx guy here. Ran over my shrub in the driveway, (2x!!!) leaves packages in the rain on the front door, no knocking, no plastic. Complete idiot.

Funny, UPS was always delivers quick to Michigan. If I order on Monday then I receive the boxes on wednesday. Plus the drivers drops off at the shop where it's always a mystery where the fedex guy leaves stuff.

Call and complain about the guy. I am sure they will straighten him out or get rid of him.

Where I live it takes UPS at least 4 days to deliver anything and they usually come very late in the day. FedEx normally here by 10 am.

My last SPI order got delivered to an address about a mile away from me by FedEX. Tracking stated it had been delivered to my front door! I called them within 5 minutes of getting the email stating it had been delivered to me. They didn't offer to contact the driver immediately which sucked but said they would get back to me by the end of the day - I never heard from them again.
I probably would never have got it were it not for the unlikely chance that it was delivered to a family who knew my wife. They bought the order by that day.

UPS has been great here in Southern PA. Fed Ed not bad either but do know fed ex will sub out to independent drivers

That's what I got here. Independent guy, truck falling apart. I actually fixed his door once for him, (pins and bushings) didn't charge him a thing. He ran over my shrub next to the driveway a second time the next time he delivered to me. Asked him to please stop putting stuff on my front door, go around to the side door and deck. Still does the same thing. Left a package for me last week in the rain, no plastic around it, ruined what was inside. :mad:Still trying to get that straightened out. Some people are just cruising through life on autopilot.

You can go onto FedEx site and set up an account with delivery instructions. I had to do this to get them to stop leaving packages out at the road. Worked first time and every time since....

fedex ground are all subcontractors while regular fedex and fedex home delivery are fedex employees. to be honest i have had issues with both fedex and ups equally. both of them have taken out my stone wall out front atleast 1/2 dozen times. the drivers for both are fine if i could actually get the same guy all the time. the regular drivers know where to pickup and drop off but if i dont get those guys then god only knows.

Interesting to hear varying experiences. I had trouble with FedEx in the past, so it was pretty surprising to me that they managed to truck this stuff over 2000 miles in 3 days. Seeing as I am always forgetting to order in a timely way, it was a real blessing this time around.

UPS-Fedex Both have their moments. One notable Fedex delivery the driver brought in an empty box. The contents busted through and were long gone. He asked me if I still wanted to take delivery!!
Around here the folks you have to worry about is USPS. Often when you order something with "free" delivery USPS is the cheapest. Thank God that's not the case with SPI.

This was some good reading!!!!! Thank you for feedback.

YOU do have the right when you call in to request the carrier you want.
We bought a $6000 software program about three months ago and be it ground or freight it picks the fastest and cheapest carrier.
We have both freight customers and ground customer that request different carriers for whatever reasons and we honor the request.

I personally have never been a fan of FedEx ground and had stopped using them for a number years although FedEx freight we have used for 80% of our freight shipments.
I was against this program but trial run comps showed a saving of about $1200 to 2000 a week in shipping costs so I gave in.

Barry,

If you have somebody with the time, please have them verify the Fedex quoted price with what you are actually billed... I have both Fedex and UPS accounts, but prefer UPS. The Fedex billed prices have averaged 15% higher than their quotes.

Best,

Lance

We are getting the $900,000 rates and the system we installed gives the exact cost of each shipper and not only do we watch it like a hawk, the sales rep is here every week making sure we are happy, UPS rep here once a month.

First time customer. Orders on Wednesday. Just delivered on Saturday. If you guys did body shop supplies I would never have to leave the house. Lol. Couldn't be happier so far. Talked with Jeriamiah the first time. Actually ordered from Andy Wednesday. Had the wife place the order. She was very impressed with everything. Thanks thanks thanks.

Wanted to add another reference point on Fed-ex. LAst SPI order as I mentioned above was delivered to a house a mile away for me. Well, last week I had some window blinds delivered, got the email stating "left at front door". Long story short, the guy dumped the package in the street gutter at the end of my driveway!
Barry, I sure hope you offer an alternative to Fed-Ex. I have about 50% satisfaction rate with them and about 100% with UPS. Maybe 95%+ with P.O.
