Finishing wood

I remember some time ago there was a thread about using spi (I think intercoat clear) on wood. I skipped over it because at the time I didn't care. I've always used auto finish for cars and relied on wood finishes for wood. With that said, I want to spray a blue candy over some wood. Anyone with experience? Thanks

There was an earlier discussion about using a clear epoxy on wood. Far from an expert but I would use that followed by the intercoat clear and candy.

JimC is the man regarding wood finishes.

I made a thread about it awhile back. JimC said intercoat was an excellent sealer for wood. I started that project but haven't had time to finish it. I did mix some red candy in intercoat and sprayed a few coats as a test. Never got around to clearing it.

yep caught this one late. spi intercoat makes for the best sanding sealer i have ever found for wood. its super fast and sands very easily. as for topcoats, when you get into the real industrial wood finishes they are either conversion varnish or automotive clearcoat or ss. automotive clear is used on wood every day. everything from cabinets to marine finishes. its all the same thing, different label.

Well I'm going to play. It's for my wife so if it doesn't work....I'll tell her to do it herself!! I talk big because she's not on here, I'm scared......
