First time painting: Getting gun set up

Hopefully I will be spraying some epoxy primer soon (before it gets too cold). The body is nearly stripped on my 69 firebird project, I have SPI epoxy primer, 55' of sloping copper line (with drain at end) running to a craftsman 150psi regulator and Devilbis dessicant dryer, then 25' of rubber hose to an eastwood regulator and Concourse gun. I have several tips to choose from and should be able to spray anything from primers, base, to clears. I don't have a clue how to set this gun up (I have read Barry's article several times). Any thoughts on tip size, air pressure at gun, fluid adjustment, etc.

Epoxy sprays real easy, use a 1.4 or 1.5 anot sure the gun you have but I would start with a good wid even fan and about 2.5 turns out on fluid, air pressure depends on gun but easy to adjust as you go and see fit.

I am spraying SPI primer for the first time with a DeVilbiss gun w/1.4 tip. I've tried every adjustment and pressure known to man and can not for the life of me get a nice spray. I get tons of orange peel and tons of grit in the paint. It's not dust as it's there immediately after a pass with the gun.

I have no idea what else to change other than perhaps switching brands.

get rid of the devilbiss

1.4 is too small for primer. It would be good for sealer. Need a 1.8-2.0 for primer.
You don't need a fancy gun for that.

My best tip for epoxy is do a light first coat. If I try to hammer it on, it cobwebs on me. However, the second coat I can pour it on and it's fine.

The longer I induce the less it seems to cobweb.

Can you post a pic of this problem?
