Fisheye issue

Is it even remotely possible when you say clean towel you are referring to a cotton towel that might have been dried with a anti static drier sheet?

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. Yes, it's very likely. Pretty much all the cloths I have have been dried that way, although they were when I cleaned and sprayed the rest of the car with no problem. I'll pop by an auto supply store tomorrow and pick up some prep cloths and wash it again with the SPI 700 before painting on Saturday.

ok, update.......Thanks for the help and advice to all, particulary to Jorge and SPI. Jorge sent me over a gallon of the SPI 700 cleaner, which I used along with clean auto prep wipes and not a single fisheye this time around. That's the last body part I have to paint, just the radiator left. I've sanded and polished the body, doors, deck lid and hood, still have to sand and polish the hood sides, fenders inside and out and a few small bits, window frames, steering column, dash extension, but the finish on those is good, so shouldn't be too bad to polish. I've been using the 3M 1, 2, 3 polishes, but will try some of the Chemical Guys polishes on the fenders. I know you can't see much in a photo, but here's the door today, last time it has hundreds of small fisheyes. Painting in the home garage isn't the best, but in the end, it will all turn out good.

It's been a learning process for sure and the help I got from everyone in this thread has taught me more. This is the second car I've painted, the first one was 20 years ago. By the time I get this finished and move on to my '67 Camaro I'll be a pro.......lol, just kidding. Like any skilled trade it takes years of experience. I don't have that many years left and I still work full time in my construction business. There's nothing like the feeling though of being able to do it yourself.
