Fix "dent"

Mopar Nut
Well no good deed goes unpunished... I unhooked the doors on the Dart so I could open them to buff and I told myself 1000 times to make sure I hooked them back up or if I rotated it they would open up into the Coronet...... guess what....

So if I look at that Coronet door in just the right light I can see a slight vertical wave in the clear about 1" long where the Dart door hit it. I can't see it looking at it in the other 99 ways nor can I feel it. I blocked it with 1500 and it is so hard to see I am not exactly sure... I am thinking of scuffing the area and shoot on a few coats of UC then reblock the area. At the very least use the UC as filler get it flat again and then use my airbrush to lay out a little more orange in that area then a few more coats of UC....

Thoughts?

Thanks
Sad Jim

Can they get that fine?
I dont think so. I had a PDR thing done on my wifes door ding. She had a wicked door ding right on the crease of a panel. They guy swore up and down it was an easy fix. Got the car back. I can still see it. 99% of normal people dont. ...i think we are too hard on ourselves sometimes

A good paint-less dent tech is an artist. I had a large umbrella fly into my wife's car while parked at a restaurant. It put three dents in the car which I had removed with PDR. 200 bucks and it never happened!

Amazing.

Repaints are hard to PDR. Paint easily cracks. Just going by what PDR techs have told me.

I think the issue with repaints are material build up. If you attempt PDR on a panel with filler, plus primer surfacer, plus base, plus clear, the odds of it cracking go up considerably.

Yep. Just giving a warning of what could occur.

PDR quality depends on the operator, like most other things. I suppose the guy would tell you if he can do it, but I suspect the older car metal would be more challenging---thicker, less malable. Chinese repro panels are much more malable than original decades old metal, even though its the same gage.

I think if it were parked in the sunlight where the orange is searing your retinas, you won’t see it. o_O

That is exactly right Robert but I know it is there... I will likely block it just a little more and buff it out and try to forget it ever happened.

I put a ding in the door of the 55 Belair in my Avatar. Had a PDR guy come out and he had it gone in no time. I could not find it.
