Fresh air system

There are a lot of different cars that have the fresh air grill in front of the windshield, 55 and 56 Chevy for example. This car will
likely be sold as a project at some point in the future. Its a pretty clean car, but I removed this cowl side cover to check for trash and rust.

I'm not sure how fresh the air will be after going through this.

Mustangs have the same type system, and I knew there was a problem because of this rust
above the master cylinder.

After removing the RS front fender for the first time in its life, found this ugly mess.

Just cleaning it up enough to see the spot welds.

That will stay wet a long time after a car wash.

The sealer is way past its life expectancy

The cowl top and bottom are reproduced, but I prefer to use original metal when ever possible, and I know this all fits the car very good.

Its a lot of work for one area, but what's the alternative?
Close to 200 spot welds to remove the top
Around 100 to remove the bottom

I want to clean and paint the back of the dash and mount the windshield wiper assy before welding this back in. Just
wanted to let those that need to know, its not that bad a job, and when this car gets dirty it can be washed without fear.

One of the questions I get a lot is best seam sealer, all I have used
Since two parts came out in the late 80s has been the duramix and some fuzor in the last ten years as 3m has made the duramix hard to find.
But many people, due to costs, want an air-dried one, and that question is out of my league.
Chevman, what do you like?
