Hey guys i want to find a good durable clear coat that i can buff the next day. Isnt so soft ive worked at different shops used different clears

Man this junk I'm using is to soft you touch it.scraches bad

well you are going to find that spi clears in general are on the softer side. its a real balancing act. yes you could easily make a clear that is rock hard and doesnt scratch but those are also brittle and will chip easy. trick is just finding something that is not too soft and not too hard. spi clears i think are just right BUT it does take them some time to get there. even the speed clear wont be at 100% hardness in 24 hours. of course this is all weather depending also. higher humidity will cause a clear to cure harder and faster. how you spray and # of coats will change this also. i have done jobs with universal and 8 coats done in 2 sessions that isnt 100% for about 12 mos. take that same clear and do just 2 coats when its warm and 100% humidity and its rock hard in 4 days.

Sure. If they are large parts like door or hood then spray coat 1 on 3 parts, come back second coat them then do the same thing on parts 4-7. Doesnt matter how you spray it. You just dont want coat 1 flashing for 10 min then come back and do coat 2. 3 min flash is ok. Just depends on how fast a sprayer you are so adjust how you spray your parts to meet the requirements of the clear
