i was wondering about that. this gate is about 75lbs, maybe it wont blow around much.If I hang parts without something to hold them down as I paint the air flow from the gun makes the parts swing around. I did notice that Robert of MPC always runs wires from the bottom of his hanging parts to prevent this.

love the color.I paint the doors in two steps.
First the inside gets painted complete.

Then I mask off the inside of the door leaving the just the edges exposed.
I set the door on the edge of a table and use a car battery inside a plastic storage case and bungie cords to hold it in place.

I have done it both ways but I usually try to make sure the doors and fenders are sprayed in the same session with the correct orientation.Shouldn't metallics be sprayed with the doors on the car if doing a complete spray?
I'll be honest, I have always "tried" to do it in the correct body orientation, but in certain circumstances where I didn't do it that way I never saw an issue. Again, I am not painting your stuff, so do what makes you comfortable.Shouldn't metallics be sprayed with the doors on the car if doing a complete spray?
I have not had hanging doors move while spraying. Small parts, yes.Don't the hooks on the Astro get in the way of painting if you grab the hooks on the C pillar?
I am painting a heavy Ford Excursion rear/side door.
I am just an amateur so being careful.
I bought a generic Astro on Amazon and so far so good as far as holding it but if I am going to just use 2 hooks inside the door instead of at the c pillar that exceeds the 35 lbs per hook since this is a big door.
Also, is everyone here needing to worry about the door moving while spraying? I am going to be using a LVLP gun but still worried and have enough other stuff to worry about as a novice besides the door rocking back and forth while spraying.
Sorry to bump a somewhat old thread but this is the only relevant one I could find that is useful on the internet.
Thanks.
OJ86 gave me a hand via PM. I decided to get both stands in the end.I have not had hanging doors move while spraying. Small parts, yes.
