How are you hanging doors for paint

here i am trying to figure out how to do this tailgate. i think im gonna try and come up with a way to hang from the rafters. i really would like to shoot the whole thing at once, even the bottom which usually gets little paint.
 
Hung this tailgate leaving room for the garage door to open enough for air flow while painting.
This was before I increased the airflow through my homemade booth.

Basically ran a chain through some conduit and then used heavy gaged wire to secure parts to it.

I also have some heavy gaged hooks that screw into the ceiling trusses up where the table is located in the picture. I have suspended some large panels and hoods using those.

The way the jeep tailgate is done is how I done an early bronco tailgate years ago. Except I used two cherry pickers with chains.
 
If I hang parts without something to hold them down as I paint the air flow from the gun makes the parts swing around. I did notice that Robert of MPC always runs wires from the bottom of his hanging parts to prevent this.

i'm thinking two lengths of small chain or maybe even nylon strap, two bent up welding rods and try to get it at a comfortable height.
speaking of, i always seem to mix up too much product. what is a reasonable amount for a full size tail gate front and back? two coats of epoxy.

i was wondering about that. this gate is about 75lbs, maybe it wont blow around much.
 
Bar stock is spaced to match hinge pockets in front of door....

These stands allow you to paint everything all in one sitting, and match same orientation as the doors sitting on the car.

I'll be honest, I have always "tried" to do it in the correct body orientation, but in certain circumstances where I didn't do it that way I never saw an issue. Again, I am not painting your stuff, so do what makes you comfortable.
 
I Have a lot of hooks in the ceiling for chains to hang things, sometimes I
hang a gallon can of thinner or something heavy from the item being sprayed to
keep it from swaying. I try to adjust the position to be less than vertical so
dust doesn't settle on it as much.

Don't the hooks on the Astro get in the way of painting if you grab the hooks on the C pillar?

I am painting a heavy Ford Excursion rear/side door.

I am just an amateur so being careful.

I bought a generic Astro on Amazon and so far so good as far as holding it but if I am going to just use 2 hooks inside the door instead of at the c pillar that exceeds the 35 lbs per hook since this is a big door.

Also, is everyone here needing to worry about the door moving while spraying? I am going to be using a LVLP gun but still worried and have enough other stuff to worry about as a novice besides the door rocking back and forth while spraying.

Sorry to bump a somewhat old thread but this is the only relevant one I could find that is useful on the internet.

I have not had hanging doors move while spraying. Small parts, yes.
