How long can you leave painters plastic on your vehicle?

I started using a professional grade automotive plastic sheeting from Hud. Since both doors are off of the car now, I bagged the car before spraying epoxy on the cowel yesterday. I was planning to leave the car bagged while doing filler work on the cowel. I figure the plastic sheeting would be there for another 3 or 4 days.

As a side note, the epoxy already sprayed on the car was done last year so it has had 6 to 8 months curing time.

Last year I left that same type of plastic on fresh clear for a few days and it reacted and caused problems.
The advice I got here at that time was to get the plastic off painted surfaces as soon as possible.
Not sure if cured epoxy would be the same.

Thanks Dean. I had read that thread about your issue after spraying clear. It made sense since the clear would still be gassing off.

Hence my reason for starting this thread with cured epoxy of 6 to 8 months. If the plastic sheeting needs to be pulled today, that's what I will do.

Cured epoxy, only epoxy, would be fine. Urethane, and moisture, causes problems.

Outstanding, thank you Tex.

I know it's not a time consuming task to take it off and reapply but, if I can save some time, it helps.

I'm assuming the 6 to 8 moth epoxy has cured?
