Hyundai Sonata Door Handles

I had a guy that donates to our high school car show ask me today about painting the door handles on a car he bought for his wife. It is a 2002 Hyundai Sonata and the door handles all have the paint peeling off them right down to the plastic. He took it to a body shop and they said that this was a very common problem on these and quoted him $400 to paint the 4 handles! I told him that I would do it for him in appreciation of his donation, but thought I would run my idea past you all before I do it. The plastic appears to be a yellowish color but I do not know what it is made of yet. My thought is to remove them, sand all the paint off down to the plastic, apply adhesion promoter if needed, then white epoxy, silver base and then euro clear. Does this sound like a good plan? Anything to be leery of as far as peeling again in the future? Thanks in advance!

It would be good to know what type of plastic it is. Cleanliness is definatley key-use the waterborne wax and grease remover, make sure the plastic has a light texture by scuffing with a scotchbrite-I usually do this wet with a scuff paste or Ajax. Your plan should work just fine.
